Congress in Kerala digs own grave by playing dirty Group war

The dirty and shameless group war in the Congress Party in Kerala has emerged once again after a small nap. The group leaders have once again proved that the interest of the party or the people or the nation are not above their groups. Whether their candidates win or lose, they are adamant in their stance and refuse to budge even an inch.

The people of Kerala (particularly the average ones without any political inclination) are 'between the devil and the deep sea'! On one side they are witnessing a government which keeps a closed eye on the growing number of violence and goondaism by their party men and activists even under their nose. People are fed up with the way how the CPM activists and sympathizers are doing in the state since they came to power 1000 days ago.

Young students beating their teachers, college students disrespecting their principal, youth activists manhandling police officers in public, top officers being served warnings for entering their party office in search of hiding criminals (on tip off), coldblooded political murders, land scams, police being made helpless in various cases where CPI (M) people are involved, etc are some of the kind of news one hears in Kerala the present-days.

Even though the present LDF government accounted for lesser corruption compared to the previous UDF government, they cannot be given clean chit as 'corruption-free' as they tried for the huge distillery and brewery scam which the UDF unearthed and foiled. They also tried their best to protect all the leaders like ex Minister Thomas Chandy and Devikulam MLA S Rajendran who were caught red-handed in land encroachment cases.

Though most people consider that the Communist parties are more secular in nature, the Kerala government's recent stand on matters related to faith issues like 'Sabarimala', not contemning or withdrawing the controversial article  published about 'Confession' in Vijnana Kairali, intention to implement 'Church Bill' etc has been distancing them from the faithful.

Whom to choose and cast vote for in this election? It is a big question for the normal Malayali voter, as those who already have some political affiliations will vote for their parties and candidates...! But the deciding factor normally is vested with the non-partisan voters. If parties and candidates remember it, it will be good.

Kerala Election 2016; Latest Final trends: Who will form the next Government?

There will soon be an end to the anxiety and curiosity of the people of Kerala. As assembly elections were announced much earlier this time than usual, the people had a long period of time waiting in eagerness about the political and communal changes that can take place in the state. Until now electoral battles were held between the two fronts viz. UDF and LDF but this time with the arrival of the NDA it has become a triangular fight.

Soon there will be answers to all questions about the political future of Kerala. With the counting of votes on May 19, it will become clear whom the people of Kerala have opted to rule them for another five years. Choosing the better devil is a real challenge for most of the concerned voters of Kerala now. There is no necessity for any reports of any vigilance or investigating agency to ascertain that the present UDF government by Oommen Chandy is stained with charges of corruption while the LDF, whether it forms government or not, will be performing violence and murder. (Even the recent statements by some senior CPIM leaders like Jayarajan in his election speech underlines that it is very difficult to separate CPI(M) and violence and today's accidental death of a CPIM activist while making bombs at his home).  And the new comer NDA (by Amith Shah and PM Modi) has proved within just two years how easily and smartly they can divide the people and destroy the country by delivering attractive speeches. They also have nothing to claim in delivering good governance these tow years.

With just less than two weeks left for the voting, there is a lot of tension not only in the candidates and parties but also in the minds of the politically-literate people of Kerala. It was surprising to know that there was a huge inflow of hawala money into the state this time (probably for the first time) like the majority of states in India.

While a portion of the society are thinking to give a chance to the LDF as they believe that only the LDF can minimise corruption and stand sternly against fascism, the other portion is in favour of the UDF and say corruption is better affordable than violence and goondaism. Even though some pre-poll surveys conducted recently by Asianet TV give slight weightage to the LDF in the elections, the choice of the Chief Minister candidate was astonishing. Even people who want a left government favors a person like Ommen Chandy as the Chief Minister of Kerala. According to the survey results, majority of the people of Kerala opined that they preferred Oommen Chandy as the next CM also...

The list of contesting candidates in the fray are finalised.

There are 140 assembly constituencies in the 14 districts of Kerala.

Total number of candidates filed nominations:        1,647
Candidates who withdrew nomination by May 2nd:    444
Total number of candidates in the final list     :       1,203

Malappuram district has highest number of candidates: 145
Wayanad district has the least number of candidates:      29
The constituency with more number of candidates:  Punjar (Kottayam)

Even though many prominent personalities of the BJP including the PM Modi and chief Amit Shah are to hold many rallies and meetings in different parts of the state, majority of the people are unanimous in saying that Kerala should keep BJP away. Even though opportunist leaders like Vellappally Nateshan (who has frankly admitted that) have joined hands with BJP, and the BJP with all its power and might is camping in the state (as they did in Delhi) the popular feeling is that divisive and destructive politics of the sangh pariwar must not be entertained in God's own country.

The recent over reaction of Oommen Chandy to VS Achutanandan's allegations about 31 cases against him has caused more harm than good.

According to the people's public opinion about the ensuing Kerala assembly election results, in the present scenario, there are chances of repeating the previous 2011 election results once again in Kerala with UDF leading just one or two seats. one of the main factors of UDF's slight weigtage is because of their liquor ban policy (implimented by V M Sudheeran) which is welcomed by many particularly the women. But anything can happen any time that can influence the decision of the people until the day of polling ie on May 16th which can affect and alter the present opinion poll of the people. Even the inaction of the police for many days after the brutal rape and killing of poor law student Jisha has adversely affected the UDF to some extend even while writing this matter..!

Kerala CM Oommen Chandy speaks against corruption in Kannur

When the Congress led UDF Government came to power in Kerala four years ago (May, 2011) with a very small margin, people expected greatly that it will do well and try to gain the trust of the people of Kerala. During the initial days of the rule, the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy apparently did his best and was seen engaging in many pro poor activities.

But soon after that the route of the government was seen changing. The unity in the United Democratic Front and in the Congress Party itself was disturbed. There were some leaders including PCC Chief Ramesh Chennithala opting and canvassing for prominent positions in the government. Then stated the infighting and mud slinging. When the demand for the second highest post in Kerala like deputy Chief Minister was not listened, there were the signs of the first dissidents in the government.

Later, to calm down the mutiny within the government, home minister post was offered to Ramesh Chennithala by the high command and there was some silence on his side. But there were may other congress party leaders and other party leaders in the front who had many personal demands.

When it was not possible any more for the government to concede to all their growing demands, some of them started indulging in many corrupt activities and others became silent spectators to the corruptions done by their dear and near ones. The Government of Kerala was not in a position to put an end to this and it grew like a big demon big enough to swallow the government.

The people who voted this government to power could helplessly watch this dirty situation prevail, and the powerful media though it came out strongly could not do much against the shameful politicians who possess rhino skins.

The UDF government which saw the pathetic performance of the UPA government in the last general elections did not learn any lessons from it, but rather went on a cumulative spree. Many people know the major reason for the UPA's fall is because of its inability to control the corruptions of its many alliance parties.

At last today the Chief Minister of Kerala who was forced to keep mum on the growing number of corruptions in his own government, among his own party men, other parties in the alliance, some bureaucrats and many in the police department and has opened his mouth about corruption and said, "people who indulge in corruption are cutting the branch on which they are sitting" ... "they may sometimes escape from the hands of the law but will lose the trust in the minds of the people."...!

People of Kerala from around the world are reacting to this comments and many are ridiculing the CM for making such a statement at this juncture.
