K S Sabarinadhan of UDF WINS in Aruvikkara: Victory for Oommen Chandy Government

Though there are many allegations of corruptions raised against the UDF government which is ruling in Kerala since 2011 under the leadership of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the Aruvikkara by election results declared on June 30 in which Congress candidate supported by United Democratic Front (UDF) K S Sabarinadhan has won with a better margin of 10128 which is more than what his late father and former Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan polled in 2011.

The Aruvikkara by poll was of great significance as there were many corruption charges leveled against many sitting ministers and officials in the government. Added to that some rebellious leaders in the UDF like P C George and R Balakrishna Pillai alongwith his son B Ganesh Kumar vowed to defeat the UDF candidate and worked without food and sleep for that purpose.

The victory of the UDF Candidate K S Sabarinadhan is not an individual or personal victory but is considered as the victory of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his government even though they say it is the result of collective work. The verdict of the people clearly show that they give more importance to development and peaceful life in spite of corruption scandals.

Though some political analysts and the opposition leaders say that there is anti-incumbency factor in the government, the people's verdict show that they are for the government's welfare schemes and developmental activities.

One reason for the weakening of LDF is because most people are against politics associated with violence.

People also opine that the presence of R Balakrishna Pillai and his son Ganesh Kumar (both are termed as corrupt) in the election meetings did more harm than good to the LDF.

The better performance of the BJP in this elections is only due to the clean image of its candidate O Rajagopal.

The one who is humiliated very much in this election by the people is P C George who often thought and claimed that people of Kerala are with him with their full support for his nonadjustable and impolite behavior. even though he was boasting that his candidate would get a reasonably handful votes and spoil the winning chances of the UDF candidates, ACDF backed candidate Das could poll votes fewer than NOTA.

The election results send a strong message to all politicians that what they feel may not be what people feel...

Piravom by election 2012 Results officially declared... UDF's Anoop Jacob makes landslide victory 12070 majority...!

At last the anxiously awaited day has come. March 21st, 2012 - the day of counting of votes polled in the Piravom by election held on march 17th. The counting of votes commenced exactly at 8.00 am as announced earlier.

There was huge anxiety and tension on both sides during the counting of votes in the first Panchayats namely Chottanikkara and Thiruvankulam, where the lead level of both the candidates were just around hundred, where MJ Jacob was seen leading frequently for hundred to two hundred votes...

With the start of counting of votes in the third panchayat Pampakkulam, the UDF candidates margin started leaping forward in thousands. Though the lead of Anoop Jacob remained over five thousand for some time, when the votes of Amballoor and Edakkattuvayal were counted his lead crossed ten thousand votes, more than that was expected by the UDF leadership and the party activists. Shortly later Anoop Jacob was declared as the winner with a huge margin of 12070 votes which is a startling margin for all involved in the by polls.

The UDF's victory in the Piravom by election is considered as clean chit to the people-friendly governance of Oommen Chandy's UDF government in Kerala State. It is seen as a people's referendum for the UDF Government in Kerala which is just nine months old.

The landslide victory of the UDF candidate Anoop Jacob in the Piravom by election also teaches the defiant and maverick parties and leaders in the front about the need to work united, keeping away selfish desires. The people's opinion on the grounds of this huge victory is that there is a clear and strong UDF trend in Kerala state of India, which is known as 'God's own Country'...!

Congratulation to the new MLA of Piravom Assembly Constituency Mr Anoop Jacob on his marvelous victory and to the people of Piravom for their discernment in choosing a young minister in to the Kerala state Cabinet...!

Many many Congratulations to the Chief Minister of Kerala Mr Oommen Chandy, who is leading a pro-people government in Kerala for the past nine months, which no doubt is the primary reason for this clear people's verdict, especially during a critical period through which the grand old party of India is passing ...!!!
