Putting an end to further guessing and inviting suggestions from the public for a suitable name for the new Andhra Pradesh state capital, the chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu has finally chosen 'Amaravati' which means in Sanskrit 'the abode of immortals' (gods) as the name of the capital of the new state which came into existence a year ago after Telengana got bifurcated.
According to sources, the CM Naidu is expected to announce the new name of the new capital of Andhra Pradesh state on an auspicious date and time shortly.
Amaravati is a small town in Guntur district of A.P. where the new capital city is being built. Amaravati has a lot of historical importance as it was the capital of the Satavahanas 2000 years ago. This place is a pilgrim center for both the Buddhists and the Hindus as it has got famous Hindu temple and an ancient Buddhist stupa constructed during the reign of emperor Ashoka.
Though many names were suggested by medias and different sections of the society, this name is finally selected. A section of ruling Telugu Desam leaders and activists wanted to name the new state after the founder of Telugu Desam party, N. T. Rama Rao but this suggestion also is appeared to have been rejected by the CM.
Many people feel that it is good at least to have a 'peaceful and promising name' for the capital of the state which is rushing towards restlessness and unrest due to the selfish agenda of some of the present time rulers...!
May gods once again choose to make Andhra Pradesh and India as their abodes on earth...!
