In India, the AYUSH ministry through a health advisory issued in January 2020, recommended that a homeopathic medicine known as 'Arsenicum album-30', if taken in empty stomach daily for three consecutive days, will serve as a preventive medicine against the corona infection ie covid19.
Following this news, people started flocking to homeopathic clinics and medical stores for buying this medicine. And obviously the homoeo practitioners and drug stores took undue advantage of this situation and sold arsenicum album 30 at three to four times above the marked prices.
Following the recommendation of the health ministry, this Homoeo drug Arsenicum album 30 was recommended and used by some state governments in India like Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka etc. Even in Mumbai civic authorities distributed the drug to high-risk populations in some areas. The Mumbai police and Haryana prisons departments also distributed the medicines to their staff and prisoners respectively.
Then this drug became a subject of hot debate. The debate mainly originated from the fact that there is no scientific evidence to this drug's efficacy to prevent Covid-19. This was pointed out mainly by allopathic medical scientists but was also accepted by some impartial homoeopathic practitioners themselves. And unfortunately no governments appear to have initiated such a study yet, may be because of the pressure from the global mafia which is reportedly ruling even the WHO!
Then two groups formed in Kerala, one supporting and the other opposing this homeo drug vehemently. Gradually during the past months this debate turned into an online social media war between Homeopathy supporters and English drug enthusiasts. The panic stricken people without knowing what to do are totally confused whether to take the homoeo pills or not. But they are not sure as those supporting it and objecting it are strong to their points of argument.
If observed closely, one can understand that most of the people who campaign for a medicine or oppose a medicine are doing so for their personal benefit rather than for the good of the public. Some global drug manufacturing companies have already invested huge amounts for producing millions of doses of vaccines for covid diseases. Already some vaccines like covaxin which is priced about Rs.5,000 is sold illegally in black for over Rs.50,000.
If for any reason, a homeopathic drug is proved to be effective against this pandemic, the global drug mafia will have to incur huge loss. It is opined that it is the international drug mafia, particularly the global manufactures of covid-19 vaccines that are behind the anti-homeopathy campaign!
Now whether to use Homeopathic drugs for preventing and curing coronavirus disease is a million-dollar question. As that drug is comparatively affordable for all and as it has no side effects, there is no harm in purchasing it and using it. But the people should remember not to become easy victims of the drug mafia in the homeopathic medical field also.
