The unexpected announcement by the election commission to conduct the Puthuppally by-election on September 5, 2023, took all concerned parties by surprise. The usually deliberative Congress party defied expectations by swiftly declaring Chandy Oommen as the UDF candidate.

The Puthuppally Assembly constituency had been under the continuous representation of the late legend St Oommen Chandy for an impressive 53 years. The by poll arises due to his journey to his eternal abode on July 18, 2023.

Both the CPI(M) and the BJP are poised to finalize their candidates within the next couple of days. Speculation points to Jaick C Thomas as the very likely LDF candidate and George Kuriyan as the BJP nominee.

The constituents of the Puthuppally constituency are brimming with excitement, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to cast their votes in support of Chandy Oommen. This act would serve as a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Late Oommen Chandy. Projections suggest that the number of votes to be garnered by Junior Chandy may even surpass his father's record lead of 33,255 in 2011.

Furthermore, a significant portion of Kerala's population, including those who generally sympathize and vote for the LDF, are seeking an opportunity to express their rage and fury to the Pinarayi government, which has ruined Kerala state in all aspects and made it a devils own country. Sri Oommen Chandy (Umman Chandy) will be officially known as St Oommen Chandy in future. He was born in Puthuppally and was baptized as a Christian in St George Church, Puthuppally and worshipped God Jesus Christ and participated in the Sunday Holy Qurbana there throughout his life. And his body is buried in the special tomb amidst the tombs allocated for departed Priests near the Church. His tomb is visited by tens of thousands of people everyday since his funeral. 

Sri Oomman Chandy was a marvel. Just like many Christian Saints, he too did ordinary things with an extraordinary dedication. He was a politician like many others, but he was different from all of them. He was an elected representative of the people with a rare record in entire India, probably in the whole world! He was an elected member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from the Puthuppally constituency for 53 consecutive years! 

He served as the Chief Minister of the state for two terms. He served in many political positions. But unlike most leaders in power and positions, he used all his time and effort for literally serving the people. He was happy to sacrifice even his food and rest to help more hapless people. Even ordinary people had direct access to his office or home round the clock, without any appointment or protocol!

Sri Oommen Chandy led a simple and humble life. Even when he was the chief minister of the state, he used to travel in economy classes and compelled his staff (Chief secretary and other officials) to travel by business classes in planes.

He was a true Christian not in just words, but in actions. He never took revenge on his rivals or enemies who conspired heinously against him to topple his government. He even forgave and saved the communist militant who threw stone on his face and severely injured him when he was amongst the people solving their problems on the spot as the head of the state!

He was another Mother Teresa for all the poor, destitute and needy. He did not spare even the poorest of the poor from extending his assistance! He never showed any biases to any caste, creed, community or religion. As he was just and impartial, he had to face the wrath of his own Orthodox Church community who even excommunicated him for not favouring them in their dispute with the Jacobites, when he was the Chief minister!

Even before the Church authorities thought of recognizing Oommen Chandy (OC) as a venerable person, the people started thronging to his burial place without ceasing, and lighting candles and making prayers. Many people testify that they had sought Ommen Chandy's intercession in many difficult things and got them granted from God! 

Now there are rumors circulating in the air that the Orthodox Church is going to confer sainthood on Oommen Chandy and declare him a Saint (Vishudhan) in an extraordinary circumstance, and he will be venerated as another Punyalan or sahada in par with the saints of the Orthodox Church.

By all means Sri Ommen Chandy deserves to be a Saint as he lived a Christian life to the fullest, bearing witness to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Even if the Church delays to announce his sainthood, he will be called as Mahatma Chandy or Oommen Gandhi and the Father of Kerala!

Manipur: 9-year old Deborah's open letter to PM Modi (video)

Manipur in the North Eastern state of India is burning since 3rd of May, 2023. It has been witnessing the worst arson, violence and killing India has ever seen. Even though this cruel violence is justified as a communal clash between the majority Meitei caste and the minority Kuki tribes by the state administration, it has been doubted as a well planned conspiracy by the hindutvavadis to eliminate the Christians in the state who are mostly tribal, with the backing of the bjp government!

It is widely reported that the incumbent chief minister n biren singh gave nod to the hindu terrorists to break open the state armoury and to loot a large quantity of arms and ammunitions to attack and kill the Kuki community. Even the military forces deployed to combat violence was helpless as the state police were blocking their paths and helping the criminals who were trained and equipped hindutvavadis!

Even though savagery and inhumanity is prevailing in the state for more than 45 days, in which more than 200 people brutally killed, more than a thousand people severely wounded, about ten thousand houses gutted, around 500 Churches demolished, and more than 50,000 people fled from their villages, the prime minister never initiated any action to be taken. 

In spite of the opposition parties' repeated appeal for a meeting, prime minister narendra modi flew to the United States without giving them an appointment!

Many international celebrities like boxing Olympic champion Mary Kom, appealed to the rulers to work for installing peace in the state, no response.

At this juncture, the video appeal by the 9-year-old Deborah is going viral. The international community is keenly watching whether narendra modi, who is being projected as a global leader will ask his party men and sangh parivar activists to stop the genocide muted out on the poor tribal Christians!

Thodupuzha Al Azhar Engg College student death news

Another shocking campus death news is being reported from Thodupuzha in Idukki. A R Arunraj, a second year mechanical engineering student of Al Azhar College of Engineering was found dead today. 

He was found dead in the private hostel near to the college. It is assumed that he committed suicide. More news in detail about this mishap is expected soon. 

When an unfortunate incident happens, it is improper to hold violent protests before the police holds a thorough enquiry as it is happening in Amal Jyothi Engineering college. It is very evident that, the protest and violence that is happening in Koovappally in Kanjirappally is well planned and executed by some anti social and anti national elements (the youth wing of some banned islamist organizations) from behind the curtain!

The death news of Arun was shown scrolling under the screen in Asianet news and was mentioned as an ordinary news in 24live. Whereas in Amal Jyothi college, the camera men and reporters of most of the news channels exspecially asianet have set up their tents, interviewing and airing only the words and opinions of some goons repeatedly.

While unfortunate demises of young people are deeply mourned, the double standard of media and student organizations is highly condemned.

What is really happening in Amal Jyothi Engineering College

Amal Jyothi college of Engineering is a highly reputed and most sought after self financing institution in Kerala, with all necessary affiliations and top ratings from the concerned accreditation bureaus. The college that usually attracts the attention of the general public and the media with its remarkable achievements and activities, has become a center of news since yesterday owing to the sad and unfortunate suicide committed by a girl student, and the planned violence that was carried out by some students after 3 days of the incident!

Shraddha Suresh was a native of Thiruvankulam in Ernakulam district. She was a second year student in food technology. The college reopened after a month's vacation on 1st of June and Shradha arrived in the college hostel on that day. On that day the exam results were published by the university. When tabulated the theory results of 3 semesters she had failed in 12 out of 16 subjects. Probably this might have caused her despair to a great extend.

On the next day (June 2nd), She was found using a mobile phone in the lab class, which was forbidden. The phone was grabbed by the teacher as per the university norms and handed over to the HOD. And the HOD  phoned to her parents to inform them these matters. 

In the evening Shraddha's mother phoned to her roommate's phone number and intended to talk with her daughter. But she declined to talk to her mother. Later when her roommates went for dinner, she did not go with them and when they returned, they saw her door was bolted from inside. When there was no response to the knocks, they peeped through the window and found she was hanging. The friends screamed and shouted and called others and together they all pushed open the door and rushed her to the nearby hospital immediately. 

On the way to the hospital, her parents were informed that she was not feeling well and being taken to a hospital. The college authorities informed this to the Kottayam S P also. On reaching the hospital the doctors examined her and declared dead. The parents came at night. Then the body was placed in the hospital mortuary. The next morning the police came and conducted inquest and moved the body to the Kottayam medical college where the post mortem was carried out.

Later that evening the body was taken to her home in Thiruvankulam and the funeral was conducted. From the college many of her friends and teachers attended the funeral.

After 3 days, IE yesterday on 5th (Monday) some students and media gathered in the college and started creating unrest and started disrupting the college's functioning. Senior police officials and local political leaders including the MLA held talks with them and tried to calm them, but there was no use. Their repeated uproar and violence gave doubts to the common people that they came with some preplanned agenda. 

And on 6th (today) a large number of young people with political flags forced into the college through the police fence and caused great turmoil. They quarreled with the teachers, abused the management and violated the police's requests. The violent mob started vandalising the college properties. They were not willing to listen to the words of anyone who tried to explain to them.

This strengthened the doubts of the public that it was some vested interests that plotted to destroy this college, were using some students and some hired goons, taking advantage of this unfortunate mishap!

The real motive behind the attack on Christians in Manipur

The condition of Christians in India are like someone between the devil and the deep sea! On one side they are targeted and persecuted by islamist jihadis and on the other side they are cruelly persecuted and killed by the hindu extremists. Since narendra modi became the prime minister of India, many neutral-minded moderate persons in the Hindu religion have been becoming fanatics. As the hate and divisive politics of modi and co have been producing the desired fruits.

The world witnessed recently the poor Christians in the northeastern state of Manipur being subjected to severe persecution by the majority hindus. In the riots that targeted only Christians and their places of worship in both the communities was well planned by the top brass of the hindutva vadis. It was very sad that even the elected state government indirectly supported the violence and killings of innocent Christians. Even the central government did not issue any stern instruction to the state government to deal with the attackers. Hence majority of the people who watched these arson, violence and killing opine that the attackers were given proper training to carryout this heinous devilish acts with the blessings of p m modi.
