Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2016: Who will Win? DMK or AIADMK Alliance?

Elections in India are not a mere matter of prestige or just a run for power and positions. It is something more than that. It is a 'do or die' battle for survival. In states like Tamil Nadu, the intensity of the electoral battle will be severe. The loser will be subjected to severe hardships by the winner. Hence to remain in power or to enter in positions, the politicians go to any extreme and resort to taking any steps without leaving no stones unturned.

With regard to doing corruptions both leading parties like DMK and AIADMK have proven their skills. But no party in India could equal AIADMK chief and incumbent Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in indulging in huge scams some of which sent her to jail even when she was in power. But she could succeed to some extend in winning the appreciations of many average people, who are not much bothered about huge scams, by offering them some sops.

To capture the lost position in the government, the DMK party and to retain in power for another 5-years-term, the AIADMK are making many strategies. Many big and small parties are seen making many plans either to rule or to be with the rulers. Apparently many parties are hesitant to make any ties with the BJP fearing it will do more bad than good.

Already the Congress and the DMK have entered in to a pact. And actor turned politician Vijayakanth's DMDK is also likely to join the DMK-Congress alliance. Many smaller parties also are joining this alliance, the fight is expected to be a tough one.

Who will win more seats and form the government in the Chennai St George Fort is not predictable at this stage. Even though many survey companies and news channels would conduct poll surveys and opinion polls, they too cannot be taken for granted. What is in the minds of people and which party will form the governement in Tamil Nadu will be revealed on May 19th, 2016.

2016 Indian Assembly Election Dates, Details, Opinion polls, surveys

The chief election Commissioner of India Dr Nasim Zaidi on Friday (March 4th) officially announced the dates and other important information about the conduct of the Assembly Elections to be held to the four Indian states and one UT. With this announcement, the model code of conduct has come in to force in these states and union territory.

The elections to the state assemblies of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will be held on May-16 in a single phase on one day. And it will be conducted in Assam in 2 phases and in West Bengal in six phases starting from 4th April and ending on 16th May, spread over 43 days.

The counting of votes will be held on 19th May, 2016 in all these states and the results will be made known following the counting.

This time the electronic ballot boxes (EVMs) to be used in the election will have photos attached to the names of each contestants to avoid the confusion of voters that may arise due to the increased number of fake candidates with similar names of the official candidates who can split some votes and can adversely affect the winning chances of the candidates.

Another speciality of this election is that 'NOTA' (none of the above button) which is gaining popularity and getting more votes due to the wrong selection of candidates by some parties, also will have an official symbol.

Even though some news channels have started collecting and airing some opinion polls and surveys to measure the winning chances of parties and candidates, seeing the pathetic failure of different survey and exit poll results conducted and declared by popular news channels and companies in the past, people have lost faith in any of them.

The actual results of the elections will depend upon many actors. Some factors that are prevailing now and some incidents that may occur during the time of election will also influence the voters' minds. Parties particularly the oppositions in all these states are busy making alliances with other parties for a marginal victory and overthrowing the governments in power by hook or crook..!

Election time is considered as a golden period for most people particularly the mass vote bank who get money, liquor etc from all parties and contestants and many sops by the parties who lure them easily and cheat them there after for five years. The most pathetic part is that we will be forced to see many violences and deaths related to theses elections.

Dial 139 to Cancel Train ticket: SMS to Clean Railway Toilets and Coaches.

The Rail Budget 2016-17 was presented by the Railways minister Suresh Prabhu today ie on 25th of February, 2016. Even though there are not many declaration of massive projects, the rial budget 2016 is considered as a satisfactory one by the common train traveller. Though this budget is prepared keeping in mind the ensuing Assembly polls to five states it has some small but useful sops for the travellers. However the opposition and other economists and specialists may find many technical faults with the budget as usual, and may term it as a budget aimed solely to increase rail revenue, the common man feels and are some what happy as the minister has declared many simple but neglected steps for the betterment and convenience of the railway passengers.

Advantages of the rail budget 2016-17 for the average rail user:

There is no hike in the passenger ticket fare. (This may be because of the cheapest cost of diesel / fuel compared to that in the previous years). This has given some immediate relief to the frequent passengers. After the BJP government came to power, the platform ticket price (which was Rs.5 for many years was made Rs.10 at a time), minimum passenger ticket cost (doubled to Rs.10 from Rs.5) and the reservation charges were increased steeply last year. As this announcement of fare hikes were made after the budgets, People have a feeling that the railways may announce increment in passenger ticket fares sometime after the Assembly elections to 5 states are conducted later this year.

Hereafter a Reserved train Ticket can be cancelled by calling Helpline Number 139. It is an innovative move and great advantage for the people who regularly lose a lot of money for not being able to cancel the  reserved tickets in the stipulated time at the stipulated railway stations.

Another passenger friendly offer is to get the services of cleaning personnels on SMS request. There will hardly be any passenger who would not have experienced the ugly conditions of the bathrooms and toilets in Indian Railway coaches and stations. But one should wait to see how far it can be implemented successfully..!

Another move being welcomed by passengers is the proposed increase of speed in the running of trains. There is a plan in this budget to increase the speed of express trains to 80 km/hour. If this is implemented, it will save a lot of time of the passengers.

The porters who are known as coolies are christened as 'sahayaks' and are to be provided 'soft skills' training to behave properly with the passengers. (People are asking whether there is any proposal to give training to the TTEs and other railway staff to demand bribes politely and to grant some concessions in exhorting bribes from the poor !)

Introduction of unreserved super-fast trains is another commendable announcement which may serve the common man greatly during unplanned emergency journeys.

Introduction of 'Antyodaya Express' (dusk to dawn express trains) and Deen dayalu coaches (for the sick and the aged) is also a welcome move.

Starting the Railway recruitment process through online means may bring more transparency and minimise corruption.

But improving the quality of food or any promises regarding the rail catering will remain in India as a mirage as long as the contract for these jobs are given to unscrupulous persons who shell out obscene amounts of bribes to several people and departments whether connected or not with the railways...!

Comments are welcome! Thanks in anticipation!

The shameless MLAs of AP who betray the voters for selfish motives

'Operation Akarsh' is a common word frequently heard in the Telugu speaking states of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh these days. (It is very much in practice in other states also may be in some different name.) Operation Akarsh is not any new initiative launched by these governments for the welfare of the people or the betterment of the state. It is a dirty game by the ruling parties in these states to attract the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) belonging to the other parties particularly the Opposition Parties who neither have any principles or any shame by offering them some money, positions and a lot special favours including cancellation of any pending cases etc.

The main purpose of these parties ruling the states is to weaken the opposition parties who always question the wrong-doings of the governments or oppose any move of the governments that may affect the people. Even though the cunning agents of these ruling parties approach most of the MLAs of other parties with irresistible offers such as ministerial berths or other top posts and other perks, many leaders with some principles and policies do not give their ears to these offers which are like bones but show some loyalty to the party which they represent and to the people who voted for them and elected them as MLAs knowing giving some credit to the political party to which they represent.

In an election the voters elect a person as their MLA or MP taking into consideration two things. They are the Political party which they represent and the person who is contesting. So after winning an Assembly or Parliament constituency as an official candidate of a particular party, and later switching allegiances to another party for personal gains is greatly dishonourable and disgraceful. If a member of any legislative assembly or parliament cannot cope-up with the policies of the party, they should tender their resignation and face fresh mandate of the people. If they continue as MLAs in the new party, the Speaker of the House should show courage to disqualify them under anti-defection law.

But as the speakers of our Assemblies are also loyal members of the ruling parties and if they fail to appease the party leaders who are Chief Ministers in these states, they know that their posts will disappear overnight and some other person may occupy it. Hence the poor voters who gave power to these cheaters cannot expect any justice there also. But if not all, the senseful voters will surely hate these leaders who do not have back bone and can be easily lured with money, power or positions.

The governments in these or any states should concentrate on how to develop the state and improve the lives of the people instead of planning and playing dirty games of luring other leaders to damage the voice of the opposition. By engaging in cheap and substandard tactics like this they are mocking the very system of democracy and fooling the people who appointed them to rule in their place and on their behalf.

Hence those MLAs or MPs who got elected to any state legislature Assemblies or parliament on the ticket and label of one party and wish to change allegiance to some other parties are asked to show minimum courtesy of tendering resignation to their elected post and face fresh polls before continuing in the new party with the new post given as alms or blood money given for betraying own people. Let the foolish voters who elected you to power bear the expenses of the election once again as a punishment for believing your false promises and casting their precious votes for deceivers like you...!
